Ka La‘i Ola Construction Update (June 2024)

Jul 11, 2024 | TAGS: Ka La‘i Ola

June has been a month of significant progress at Ka Laʻi Ola. Our team has been working tirelessly on multiple fronts to ensure the development stays on track.

One of our notable accomplishments this month is the completion of the Leialiʻi boulder pile processing. This has not only cleared vehicular access to the home sites but also provided essential aggregates for utility infrastructure bedding and erosion control. At the same time, work has commenced on the Honokowai water system infrastructure upgrades, marking a critical step in enhancing our water supply capabilities.

Our extensive efforts in mass grading, blasting, and earthwork continue across all phases, laying the foundational groundwork for the entire project. The ongoing excavation and construction of both the lower property (western) stormwater detention basins and the upper property (eastern) stormwater diversion basins ensure effective stormwater management. Progress is also notable in the installation of new sewer lines from COM to Phases 1-A and 1-B, along with the continued installation of underground utility water lines and the initiation of underground electric utility lines in Phase 1-A.

Concrete work for pedestrian paths and the installation of unit foundations in Phase 1-A are actively shaping the infrastructure for our future community. We have also received the first delivery of modular homes (NanoNest units), which are securely stored in locked containers on site. The staging area east of Phase 2 has been cleared in preparation for receiving additional home units.

Our onsite temporary office has been established near the Wahikuli water tank, providing a base for our operations. We have set up site offices for HomeAid Hawaiʻi, GBI, Nordic, and DuWatts teams to ensure smooth coordination and planning. Improvements to the upper Cane Haul Road have been completed, facilitating all construction traffic and deliveries.

Last but not least, the building pads for Phase 1-A have been completed, and we've started to install the foundation systems.

Mahalo for following us on this journey and for your continued support.
