The Next Step Shelter, at its peak, offered refuge to approximately 250 individuals facing homelessness, providing them with essential shelter and a sense of security. However, challenges such as a leaky roof and overwhelming demand saw its capacity strained, with 15 units and 30 beds becoming unusable due to water damage affecting personal belongings and safety. In response, HomeAid Hawai‘i stepped in to assist with crucial roof repairs, enabling the shelter to restore its full capacity and continue its vital support for the community.
