Chiara is a musician whose life has always been tied to music. She sang in theaters as a child, studied jazz, and later taught at an international school. She traveled widely, chasing opportunities with record labels in Europe and Korea, writing songs for others while striving to release her own.
When COVID closed borders and her contract collapsed, she returned to Hawai‘i. In Lahaina she created a small studio in her family’s backyard, studying film scoring and writing music.
On August 8, 2023 the fire swept through Lahaina and she lost her home, her instruments, and her animals. It was devastating and it took a while for her to truly understand what happened. Her family then moved into Ka La‘i Ola. It gave them a safe place to stay while they figured out how to begin again. Chiara kept studying, writing, and helping her family through those months of transition.
Recently her family became the second to move out of Ka La‘i Ola, returning to their own land in Lahaina. Their home had been rebuilt. The move marked a turning point from displacement to restoration, from temporary to permanent.
Through all of it Chiara has carried her dream of music forward. She continues to study, compose, and sing, calling music both her therapy and her healing.
