Everything is coming together at Ka Laʻi Ola. Less than two months ago, we welcomed our first residents into the initial 10 homes. Today, we’re happy to announce the completion of Phase 1A, adding 43 more homes and bringing the total to 53 now available for displaced residents.
Just this past Friday, another family moved in as Rotarians from California teamed up with Maui's local Rotary clubs, led by Lahaina Sunset Rotary, to prepare homes for the next families. Their support went beyond volunteering; they generously donated essential items like smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, solar pathway lights, and more. With their help, and many others, we’re ready to welcome the next wave of families in the coming weeks.
The community’s support has been truly inspiring. Recently, the Credit Unions of Maui & Lānaʻi announced a $300,000 donation, raised through contributions to the Valley Isle Chapter’s HCUL Maui Wildfire Relief Fund. This donation helped launch our new Land Asset and Property Management division, supporting Ka Laʻi Ola's long-term management. Another generous partner, Unlimited Construction Services, donated $65,000 through their Laulima Golf Tournament at Poipu Bay Golf Course, directly aiding HomeAid Hawaii's operations in developing Ka Laʻi Ola and similar projects.
Thanks to the generous support from our community, we’ve been able to continue our on-site work. Recently, a large shipment of homes arrived at Kahului Harbor—if you follow us on social media, you may have seen the updates! We're excited to share that those homes have now reached Ka Laʻi Ola, with some already set in place. Watch the video below for a closer look at the progress and the homes.
As we look ahead to our next milestone, Phase 1B, we’re aiming to add an additional 84 units (six pods) in the coming months.
We have a long way to go, but we can’t wait to share more updates as Ka Laʻi Ola continues to grow.
