Marko Livingston, founder of Streetfelt Murals, uses public art to transform everyday spaces and bring color, identity, and connection into communities.
At Hoʻokahi Leo Kauhale, Marko partnered with HomeAid Hawaiʻi to bring that same approach to a community built to help people transition out of homelessness and into a place they can call home.
Streetfelt Murals created original murals throughout Hoʻokahi Leo Kauhale, adding color and character to the community as it expanded to 50 homes.
Marko also reduced the mural costs by 50%, helping HomeAid Hawaiʻi bring more art into the community while keeping project costs down.
The artwork helped transform functional spaces into something more personal and welcoming, using art to contribute to the identity of a place residents experience every day.
A home is more than four walls. The spaces around it can shape how people feel about where they live and whether it feels like a community that belongs to them.
Through his artwork, Marko helped make Hoʻokahi Leo feel more welcoming, vibrant, and rooted in a sense of place.
For residents transitioning from life on the streets, those details matter. The murals are part of creating an environment that offers not only privacy and safety, but dignity, connection, and a place residents can take pride in.
Streetfelt Murals shows how partners can contribute to housing in different ways. By bringing his creativity and talent to Hoʻokahi Leo, Marko helped turn a collection of homes into a community that looks and feels like home.
