Tearo & Amie

At Alana Ola Pono Kauhale, Tearo and Amie are working on a second chance in life.

Their journey led them into addiction. Drugs and alcohol took over. They lost their kids. They ended up living on the beach and thought that was just how life would be, until one day they were simply tired of doing the same thing and hurting the people they loved.

Today, Tearo and Amie are over one year and one month sober. They laugh more. They talk instead of fight. They are finding pride again in who they are becoming.

“I’m not shame now.”

Alana Ola Pono Kauhale gives them a stable place to keep moving forward, stay close to the support they need, and focus on what comes next. Their goal is to return to their former home, reunite with their children, and live together under one roof.

“We’re just taking it day by day.”

“Take it from us, I mean we came from the streets, if we can do it, other people can to.”

With a place to live and people in their corner, their daily choices are turning hope into something real.

Tearo and Amie, you got this.
